Celtic Stone Medicine for Turbulent Times
The stones were seen as conduits of earthly energy to the heavens, opening gateways to other realms, and drawing down the light of the stars.
Monarchs were crowned on sacred stone, and rituals were danced in their circles.
Stone has memory, and as it bears witness to all life on this planet, it remembers. Rocks and stones are the bones of this Earth, and their energy + wisdom is deeply healing for us, especially during turbulent times.
Today I sat on this rock, and gently placed my hands on its surface. As I touched on its consciousness with my own it began to sing - I could feel the vibrations in my hands.
I spoke to it of weariness - I feel that so many healers are world-weary right now - but also spoke of my dreams, and surrendered to its pulse.
The stone gently replied that it had weathered many storms, and also seen many bright days, and that I am not alone:
“The elders, they are with me.
Their bones support me.
Their energy gives me strength.”
Healers and light warriors, don't forget that you are supported. Reach out to the stone energy that is all around you, witnessing you, here to support you and remind you of your resilience.
In turbulent times rock energy stabilizes us, revitalizes, nourishes our nervous system, and helps us feel grounded and secure.
It connects us to an ancient power, one that humans have turned to for millennia when in need of spiritual support.
Sit with a rock from the land where you live.
Touch on its consciousness with yours.
Open your heart.
Quiet your mind.
And let its power flow through you.
Sometimes it's not the shiny crystal that heals you, but the bare rock, bone of the Earth, elder of our planet. We need to remember this medicine.
Remember, that you are made of this Earth, and so are they.
Remember that they are your ancestors, too.
And that with them you are never alone.
If you're feeling rocked (no pun intended) by the energies, stressors, and emotions of these times, return to your elders for medicine.
My heart beats with you…
The dark times of the year, when the days are shortest, are hard for me. My spirits seem to droop with everything else. But I'm reminded of what a friend once said, that these were “silvery days”: When you look closer there's a magic to perceive, if you have the heart to do it.
Here are a few of my favourite crystals for the dark time of the year, and to help me find the magic in these “silvery days”…
